Az nem negatív érték. :)
Azt jelöli, hogy a partíció 0-tól a 310095-ös Cylinderig tart
A másik esetben pedig a 310100-asig.

Látszik az outputból, hogy hiába van megcsinálva a wd1a partíció, nincs 
típusa... Kell neki adni egy típust is (BSD 4.2 vagy mi)
A wd1c pedig egy "spéci" device, legalábbis az általam használt netbsd-n.
Ott úgy van, hogy a "d" végű az egész lemezt jelöli, a "c" végű meg a 
lemez NetBSD által használt részét.
Neked csak az "a" végűt kell majd megformáznod.

Ha esetleg hülyeséget írtam volna, javítsatok ki....
